Hey everyone ive been using the masuda method for a few weeks now, and i have a few questions,
so to start off, ive been trying to hatch a shiny gastly, im just about at 850 eggs and its getting quite tiresome, i know this method is still 1/1300 approximatly, anyways i recieved a japenese ditto over the gts ( it has the black box saying jpn or whatever in the corner) and i bred it with my haunter i then recieved a normal timid gastly and then started breeding that with the ditto, their holding the destiny knot and the everstone respectivly, so i want to know if i have done anything that has reduced my chances of getting a shiny, im not sure if you can withdraw a pokemon from the daycare and put it back or if it will "reset" some kind of chain, i have not done this, besides with the haunter and i dont count the eggs that that, haunter had, anyways i just want to make sure im doing everything right, let me know if you have any questions and how your hatching is going :P, i know this might take a while, but im to far into it to stop now.

I guess it still bases on luck. It took me 14 tries to get a shiny honedge. Currently getting a shiny greninja, 30 eggs now :(

You're doing everything correctly. It's all luck of the draw, same as a random encounter. Each egg is a 1/1,300 (I think) chance of getting a shiny. It could take over 1,000 eggs, or it could take 5 eggs to get a shiny. Hang in there though- it's worth it in the end.

Additionally, there is a chance that Shiny Charm might be back. We don't know yet whether it's in the game or not, but the Oval Charm is already there so it would make sense. Once Pokebank comes out, we'll know more.

with the lowered shiny rate with the shiny charm, wouldnt that make shinies practically worthless?? i know there value has gone down, but then they would really be nothing but different colored pixels

I don't care about the "value" of shiny Pokémon. I just go for the ones that I like. It's not about how "valuable" they are.

i know but i find it exciting when i encounter a shiny, a once in a lifetime oppurtunity, so i wouldnt like them to be devalued more than they already are, i dont mean to say, that i only like them, but i only have 1, so it would be cool to have another

The shiny charm is in the game you just have to complete the pokedex.

Hang in there! I'm over 500 eggs for shiny timid Froakie with Protean, but still no luck! *pulls out hair*

Encountering a shiny increases once you've completed the National Dex through using PokeBanl and received the 'Shiny Charm' but until then you've just got to grit your teeth.

My current record is 18 for honedge, 74 for Goomy, 286 for litwick, 403 for shinx (funny that, same as it's dex number) and 1146 for another honedge. Just so you know, both honedges were done using the exact same parents and items and such and there was such a drastic difference. Nothing you've done is statistically different than what I did, it's just luck of the draw.

in black 2, it took my friend over 2000 eggs to get his snivy, and then in the first 6 eggs of feebas, he got his shiny. in pokemon X, it took me about 300-400 eggs for a shiny torchic, and then 17 for a shiny froakie :) im still going on making another shiny froakie, and i'm 50 more in. If u get the hatching power, it helps out a lot. same amount of eggs, but goes by a lot faster xD i also have a shiny charm, which helps me with eggs, but i haven't seen ONE wild shiny encounter :/
