For anyone who doesn't know, Wi-Fi support for generations IV and V have been shut down so online trades can no longer be done.

Haha. Calm down Stormwalker. I'm afraid that some Pokemon players in Generation 4/5 are not aware of the news and may not understand why, thank you for pointing out to those that the Wi-Fi Connection no longer works, but try and be more kinder to those who aren't exactly aware of these changes. I imagine now some are, but hopefully these Players will eventually be able to afford the 3DS and a copy of X/Y and can finally return to playing online with their friends. Just takes time right now to adapt to these changes.
