Which Pokemon are competitive?

I'm new to this scene, and I'm not sure which Pokemon I should invest time in IV breeding.

I want to use Mega Mawile, and I know it's a beast. What sort of Pokemon offer great support? Which Pokemon are most commonly used competitively?

Some sort of list would be REALLY appreciated

Smogon gives you advice for if you're playing their Tiers. Not competitive Pokemon in general. Especially VGC.

Almost any pokemon can be competitive! Just play around and see what you like using before getting invested in things like VGC and Smogon :)

I would never class Smogon as "The best of the best of the best pokemons" It's entirely unaffiliated with Nintendo and play by THEIR own rules. Not suitable for someone starting out who wants an UN-biased idea on how to play.

If you really put into it you could make ANY Pokemon competitive. Creativity works so well with strategy but unfortunately it i something that many players, like Smogon players, lack.
