For those that aren't aware, we have struck the goldmine of shiny hunting, ladies and gentlemen. With the release of gen 2 on virtual console, we now have access to a secret arsenal of shinies with as low a rate as a 1/64 chance. Here's how!!

being shiny in the second generation is determined by your DV. And breeding with a shiny Pokémon increases your chances of hatching a shiny Pokémon up to 1/64. To be shiny, a Pokémon must have Defense, Speed and Special’ DVs of 10, while the Attack must have one of these values: 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14 or 15. This allows even first-generation games’ Pokémon, due to the compatibility, to be shiny once transferred to second generation games. Obviously, a Shiny Pokémon, if traded to the first generation and then traded back again, it will still be shiny.

So in laymen's terms, here's what this means for you. Get a shiny ditto, and basically every Pokémon you breed it with has a 1/64 chance of being shiny. Killer right? Now there's a process to getting a shiny ditto, but it requires quite a bit of work. So instead, I'll tell you the quick and easy way.

If you've played gen 2, more than likely the first shiny you ever encountered was the red gyarados. Well guess what? If that gyarados is shiny, what does that mean? IT HAS ALL THE PARAMETERS TO BE SHINY. In other words, they are literally giving you the shiny breeding machine. Working with cross breeding in egg groups, you can expand your breeding beyond water Pokémon, and voila~

If anyone has questions, I'll explain anything needed. Happy hunting~!
