I can help anyone with other trade evolutions...I am 4th gen only. Any help is appreciated.

I think this will work I got the same exact trade I gotta do lol plus my kadabra to alakazam

You go to the GTS, you create a trade. You find your own trade that you made, trade them, the pokemon will evolve.
I think all people should know how this works

Yes.
IT doesn't work on 5th Generation though
My classmate might have told me the wrong thing.

The other way is, if what I said before didn't work, you create a trade, then you go search for trade that you can trade, then, you go to your Create Trade, and you'll see that your pokemon didn't have to trade, but it evolved.
