While at home I am unable to connect to anybody else thru pokemon wifi I am able to connect while at other places though my question is what do I have to do to my router/modem to fix this I've reset them both and nothing still.

It may be your firewall blocking it from connecting. I'm not going to give advice as I have no idea on how to fix. You could try googling for help.
