Shiny Starter help

I recently restart pokemon Y i was really bored of just shiny hunting i couldn't find anyone to battle me anymore and i just got really bored of trades plus I wanted a male character instead of female, so i restarted my game and decided to soft reset for a shiny starter pokemon Chespin! ^-^ I've never done soft resets to get shinys so i'm not sure how long it should take i've seen videos on youtube some people getting shiny after only 50 soft resets and others after 10,000 so i wanna know what's the longest you've waited to get a shiny with soft reset?

averages at 4,096 resets... I don't think it is worth the time, you are better off breeding for a shiny starter. That way you can give it egg moves and it will actually have good IVs

If you have a shiny charm and breed with a foreign Ditto, the chances are simply ridiculously high.
And, as Stormwalker said, you can also breed good IVs, nature and moves onto it.
