LF: Competitive Advice & Constructive Criticism

(I will update this post as I gain knowledge, recommendations, add Pokemon to my list, and try different things!) Yosif, how goes it? I just recently started playing Pokemon again earlier this year when I picked up a 3DS and Pokemon Y at a pawn shop, now I just got Omega Ruby and I;m just getting into the Competetive scene and for the first time have acess to trading. (No link cable when I had Gold and Silver, I stopped playing in 2nd Gen)

I usually battle with slow pokemons, so winning doesn't entirely rely on speed but team synergy and strategy. Mega mawile functions well under trick room, so does aegislash. But if you're a person who dislikes trick room, you can try to setup on opponents that lack ground or fire moves or if your pokemon force a switch.
Gengar should be timid, so you can outrun base 100s and 110s pokemons. I'd rather use assault vest tyranitar than spiritomb, it pursuit traps annoying psychic types like regular or mega alakazam, since both out speeds gengar. One more thing, you might wanna try removing the Evs you placed in aegislash's defenses and place them into its atk and sp atk instead. When it switches forme because of stance change, its low atk and sp atk will become its defenses, get the picture?

I haven't done any competing but I am looking into it as well but it just so happens I do have a piece of advice. I use my mega mawile a lot and it seems you are not utilizing it's new fairy type, and it's new fairy move play rough packs quite a punch usually it learns it at level 60 but with a heart scale you can teach it to it early and it is well worth it.

How do I remove EVs? Should I just start him over from lvl 1? I need to anyways for an Adamant natured Aegislash. :/ Or wait, do I want Brave? Cause Adament saps Sp Att so that saps my SP Def.

Use berries to lower EVs. Pomeg Berries lower HP, Kelpsy Berries lower Attack, Qualot Berries lower Defense, Hondew Berries lower Special Attack, Grepa Berries lower Special Defense, and Tamato Berries lower Speed.

Is it best just to start over from lvl 1 if you're willing?

It does matter in the sense that if you play vgc pokemon are capped at level 50 so ev's work differentlythan at level 100. If you want a thorough explanation feel free to pm me. Do you know what format you intend to play? Knowing this will be easier for us to offer advice.

Hi, Korin. You and I seem to be in a similar situation. I'm new to competetive pokemon myself, but have focused more towards the VGC tournaments. I have little first hand experience with most of the Pokemon you have listed here, or run very different sets. I have a physical Greninja, for example.

I do have a few notes, though. I have the Adamant Aegislash you've listed, for example, (I got lucky enough to Wonder Traded a fully trained Shiny version). Don't worry about the Special Defense drop in Sword mode. The goal, with Aegislash, is to attack last, and be as bulky as possible in Shield Mode. Take the hits in shield mode, switch to sword stance and attack, and then priority King's Shield back into Shield mode before they can hit you. Shadow Sneak ruins this, so leave it for a quick kill at the end. It works well enough, and probably better in Singles where I wouldn't be double-targetted, but is pretty easy to predict and set up on.

The only other thing I have to comment on is your Charizard. I just trained a Jolly Charizard with Belly Drum. It's probably not a move you're that interested in in singles, but I have a ton of breedjects lying around. If you need good breeding stock, I'd be more than happy to part with one, and we can discuss whatever stock you have lying around from all your projects in return. (I also have a decent amount of Bulbasaurs sitting around from my recent Swords Dance Bulbasaur, and I can scrape up a Protean Froakie from my bank, I'm sure. So much better than Torrent). Nice to meet you, and looking forward to working with you in the future.

@Korin, You should change your Gengar's nature to Timid, since Gengar's Sp.Atk is already high enough and Speed is more important.
Edit: Without Timid, even M-Gengar can't outspeed Timid/Jolly Greninja so Gengar with Timid nature is really necessary.

Right now I'm Re-EV training an Adament Aegislash to have 252 Atk & 252 Sp Att, I should;ve noticed sooner but the stats of attack and defense switch with the form, so if I max his attack, I max his Defense in Shield Stance. Also that would be sweet! I've only hatched like 200 eggs, might not have anything you dont already have, but its worth a shot! Also jelly, wish my Aegislash was shiny, that'd be SO fricking cool ):

Already noted but thanks! Does Timid>Modest apply to Dragonite as well?

My opinion it should be Timid so Dragonite can outspeed some Pokemon and give it Choice Specs or Choice Scarf. Sorry if it's not enough explanation, I'm kinda bad on explaining and suggesting competitive Pokemon xD Do correct me if I'm wrong
