    The Pokemon Company has today announced that Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire will be getting remakes to be released on the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS in November this year.

    According to the Pokemon Company:

    "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are a fresh take on Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, which launched in 2003 and were fan-favourite hits on the Game Boy Advance system. The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world."

      Sounds like my suspicions I made many, many months ago may just come true. I hoped/guessed that the Hoenn remakes might take place in Hoenn, but maybe in a different part of Hoenn, with new gyms, new cities, and new bad guys or something along those lines to make things different, and it sounds like that might just be what this remake will be, which I think would be an excellent idea. But even if it isn't that drastic of a change, going through Hoenn again will be sweet. Def getting Ruby.

      In an investor briefing the president of Nintendo (Satoru Iwata) said:

      They are full-remakes of the Game Boy Advance “Pokémon Ruby” and “Pokémon Sapphire” games, which sold more than 5.44 million units in Japan and more than 16.22 million units worldwide.

      so while I imagine there will be new elements/areas/etc. it'll be essentially the same thing but for the 3DS.

      Hoenn is where I began back in 2006, so to hear this almost eight years later, for me is one of the best Pokemon related news pieces I had possibly hoped for. As a kid my mum bought me a fake copy of Emerald on eBay and while that copy broke, this through all of my memories and experiences can return me to that point in my life when I was a 9 year old kid who just got into the Pokemon game series. I'll certainly be getting both. Let the nostalgia roll!

      Totally unexpected thanks Nintendo!!! I was expecting an x 2 or y2 which I thought woulda been dumb, but this is awesome! Ruby was possibly my favorite version I hope they bring back secret bases and poke contests!!!

      It looks like I got back on my Pokemon game at the right time. I can't wait for these awesome remakes.

      This is great news. My favorite Pokémon games are getting a remake! I remember the good old days when we had Mach Bikes, Bases, The HM for Dive, and of course the concerts. All those elements NEED to come back. We also need all of the newer Pokémon and a few more megas. I also would LOVE to have like what they did in HG/SS, and have certain elements like the Pokémon following you, and of course, the almighty Pokeathlon. Another good thing to do is keep all of this stuff like Battle Spot, Wonder Trade and Boutiques because they are great additions.

      Everyone thought it would be nice for a Hoenn Remake but nobody deemed it a realistic concept. Everyone thought of Plus and Minus or Z or even XZ and YZ to come out.
      I was about to go to bed when I saw this and I thought it was a joke. But THIS IS THE GAME CHANGER!

      I say, Bring it on Hoenn!
