• Original Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow coming to eShop

    Nintendo announced today that the original Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow versions will be released on the Nintendo eShop February 27, 2016. Exactly 20 years after the original games were released for the GameBoy.

    All three games will be presented exactly as the originals were with the exception that the trading will be over the DS wifi (for those who don't know the original GameBoy version required a cable to trade Pokemon between games).

    Also announced in the Nintendo direct is a free to play title called Pokemon Picross launching Early December. In Picross you complete various puzzles. A trailer can be seen below:

      Super excited for this! I still have my original Yellow, but I don't have a link cable so I'll finally be able to trade with friends ^-^

      I still have my original red/blue/yellow carts too (and GameBoys and link cables) too. I'm actually disappointed with this announcement. They had potential to start bringing all previous games onto the one system and have them link together (even if it is just via Pokemon Bank) which would have been brilliant. Instead we've still got Red/Blue/Yellow separate from the modern games.

      That can still happen, right? Through updates and such.
      I wonder if all the glitches still work.

      I hope they do an offer where if you buy one you can get either:
      One of the other versions for a discounted price (HIGHLY doubt they'd give one of the other versions for free)
      An awesome retro style 3DS theme
      Something else.....

      Personally, this is my least favourite gen of Pokemon (think their remakes are FAR superior, but hey, I don't mind if you prefer the originals ^_^) Hope these games can somehow connect to Pokemon Bank....

      So the video was hidden from public? Wut?
      I think they'll add in online battling too. It would be kind of silly not to in my opinion.
      Also another thing I'm wondering about besides the glitches - What about Mew? Will there be events for this thing? I NEED TO KNOW MOAR

      I don't know what happened there since I'm sure I linked to the official Nintendo video but doesn't matter I've replaced the video.
