• Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon

    With the Pokemon Direct coming in less than 24 hours we've been highly anticipating what this big news could be. It seems we may have our answer and sooner than expected.

    A European trademark site has information relating to Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Filing trademarks are not uncommon for a company. It reserves the names in case they want to use them in the future and sometimes multiple are filed in order to hide the true name of something. What is unusual* is the fact that fully developed logos are provided with the trademark of the name.

    *At least unusual to me. As someone who has followed a number of games and game developers over the years I've seen plenty of trademarks created and used, or created and never used. I can't recall ever having seen logos provided like this.

    Junichi Masuda, director of the Pokemon games, also tweeted this last week:

    Which translates (roughly) to: "But the sun is still out, the moon is shining bright and big! ! Birds are also muttered (laughs)"

    We'll keep you updated as more information is revealed and don't forget to watch the Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow!

      Highly unlikely. Lunatone and Solrock are already the sun and moon pokemon.

      It wouldn't be the first time they've doubled up on types of Pokemon though.

      There's gnawer themed pokémon (rattata, furret, liloone, bidoof, patrat, bunnelby), bird pokémon you get early on in the game (pidgey, hoot hoot, taillow, starly, pidove, fletchling), canine like pokémon (vulpix, growlithe, snubbull, electrike, poochyena, riolu, lillipup, zorua, fennekin, furfou) and so on, there's a couple more pokemon themes that repeat on almost every generation, like dinosaurs/dragons/monsters, monkeys, felines... :P

      They have different Pokemon under the same species classification, meaning this wouldn't necessarily stop them from making new ones.

      - Sunflora is know as the Sun Pokemon.
      - Espeon is know as the Sun Pokemon.
      - Volcarona is know as the Sun Pokemon.

      And just to leave out there;

      - Solrock & Lunatone are both known as the Meteorite Pokemon.
